Pet Sounds (a.k.a Studio Playlist 3).
With Winter approaching some melancholy tracks are creeping in, although (if required) uplift and balance is in there.
Baxter Dury - Allbarone.
Fantastic title and song, made me laugh, but every track is a winner.
Terry Reid - Bang, Bang You're Terry Reid/Terry Reid.
Ashamed to say i wasn't really aware of Terry Reid till his recent death but you can hear why Jimmy Page asked him to join Led Zep. He turned him down due to being committed to a Rolling Stones tour but recommended Plant and Bonham and so it was...
Jamie XX - In Waves.
Dancey, Trip-Hoppy and Poppy.
Play loud.
Blood Orange - Essex Honey.
Think I discovered Blood Orange (Dev Hynes) via the 'Huey Show', this is the latest album as 'Blood Orange' and sort of Electronica R&B but Dev Hines has worked/played with everyone, Chemical Brothers, Basement Jaxx, Kylie, Blondie ...
Tunde AdeBoye - Thee Black Boltz.
Debut album from 'Tv on the Radio' frontman, sounds like 80's synth, punk/post punk and funk to me... which is great.
Leon Bridges - Leon (+ 'Texas Moon' with Khruangbin).
Love his voice & 'Mariella' from 'Texas Moon' (follow-up to their 'Texas Sun' EP) is a stand out track.
Nitin Sawney - Immigrants/Identity.
Can't really say anything about Nitin Sawney.
Suede - Antidepressants.
Just 'another' great album.
Self Esteem - A Complicated Woman.
Love her songwriting which seems to get better and more accomplished with each album.
Michael Kiwanuka - All his stuff at the minute.
Have a habit of putting one album on and letting his whole catalogue just play through.
Daughter - If You Leave/Stereo Mind Game.
Their sound is so sparse but heavy and so well crafted, find both albums great to lose myself in.
Lilly Allen - West End Girl Pop.
Was intrigued and a bit sceptical after reading about this album but love it, although find bits of it uncomfortable, a bit like as a child listening to your parents argue, if that makes sense (just for the record my parents are nothing like Lily Allen & David Harbour).
